The Will County Divorce Courthouse is located in Joliet, Illinois.  The current Will County Divorce Courthouse is located at 100 W Jefferson St, Joliet, IL which can be seen above next to the old courthouse. It is the tall glass building in the above picture.

All divorce and parenting cases for all cities within Will County are heard at the Will County Divorce Courthouse.  There currently are no additional field courts beyond 100 W Jefferson St, Joliet, IL that oversee family/divorce and parenting matters.

Will County Divorce Courthouse Parking

There are several parking lots surrounding the Will County Divorce Courthouse in Joliet, IL.  There are also several parking lots and garages near the Will County Divorce Courthouse.  Check out the map below to locate the nearest or most convenient parking lot from your location.

Please note that you should have change, cash, or a credit card to pay for limited hourly parking.  If you park

within a parking garage or the lots immediately adjacent to the Courthouse, you will pay the attendant, likely in cash only, and from the parking garage you will need to walk approximately 3 blocks to the Will County Divorce Courthouse on Jefferson Street.  If you park near the Library or in any of the parking lots approximately 1 block

from the Will County Divorce Courthouse, you will need to find a pay station like the one pictured below to print a parking ticket and display it on your dashboard.  Depending on when you arrive for court, there may be limited parking and a long

line of people at the pay station.  Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes before your court appearance to be able to locate parking, pay, and display your paid parking ticket. Remember to display your parking ticket on your car's dashboard or you will receive either a parking ticket or risk being towed.

Will County Divorce Court Electronic Filing

Filing at the Will County Divorce Courthouse still takes place in person, however, you might be referred to a computer to file electronically. Our preferred e-file system is Greenfiling, however, there are many electronic filing systems that you can use and explore without having to travel to 100 W Jefferson St., Joliet, IL.

Tips for our Clients Scheduled to Appear at the Will County Divorce Courthouse

Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled court appearance.  It will take time to wait in line to be screened by security.  Often, at the Will County Courthouse, the line is out the door and down Jefferson Street.  The line, however, moves quickly.  Note that you will need to stay to the left if you have a bag or purse to be screened.  All others will stay to the right to be screened by security.  Cell phones and camara phones are not permitted in the courthouse.

Take the elevator to the third floor and Erin Birt will meet you outside your assigned courtroom approximately 15 minutes prior to your scheduled court appearance.  There are benches along the hallway and corridors for you to sit and conference.  Our attorney will check you in with the clerk so you do not have to worry about entering the courtroom or approaching the clerk until after you speak with Erin Birt.

Please arrive in business casual attire for your court appearance.  You do not have to wear a suit if that is not customary for you.  It is preferred that you do not wear jeans or open toed shoes while in Court. If you are to testify during your court appearance, Erin or our paralegal will have prepared you during an in-person meeting, a remote online meeting, or over the phone at least 24 - 48 hours prior to the court appearance.
