The DuPage County Family Center

The DuPage County Family Center is located at 422 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187 which is within the DuPage County Government Complex just north of Roosevelt Road and South of Geneva Road.  The DuPage County Family Center provides an array of services for parents that do not live together.  Both DuPage County Divorce cases and Parentage Cases where the parents were never married can be court ordered to use the services of the DuPage County Family Center.

If you are considering a change because of a family law issue or a divorce, you may want to also read about our services for: Divorce, Uncontested Divorce, Collaborative Divorce, Family Law Mediation, Child Custody, Child Support, Client Wellness, and Legal Wellness Services.

What Services are Offered at the DuPage County Family Center?

Parents might first become involved with the DuPage County Family Center because they have a case pending in either the DuPage County Divorce Court or the DuPage County Parentage Court and they are unable to reach certain agreements during litigation.

The DuPage County Family Center offers:

  • mediation services for parents
  • a neutral supervised exchange of the child/ren between the parents
  • supervised visitation/supervised parenting time
  • high conflict management program called PEACE
  • parent education (Caring, Coping and Children for divorcing parents, Parents and Kids Program for never married parents)

DuPage County Family Center Mediation

If the parents are unable to agree upon certain parenting issues they are likely to be court ordered to attend mediation through the DuPage County Family Center for any of the following common mediated issues: allocation of parental decision making, allocation of parenting time (used to be called visitation and custody), removal of the children (a parent is moving either outside the permitted range or to another state). There is no cost to attend mediation at the DuPage County Family Center unlike private mediation which can cost $250-350 per hour.  Parents need a court order, however, to use the mediation services of the DuPage County Family Center and not all cases will be approved to use the resources of the Family Center.

DuPage County Family Center Parent Education Programs

All separating or divorcing parents with a pending case in the DuPage County Divorce Court or DuPage County Parenting Court must attend a parent education program prior to any final judgment or court order being signed by the judge presiding over the case.

Parents can attend the parenting class either in person or online.

Registration information for the Caring, Coping, and Children online class can be found here.  Registration inquiries for the in-person course can be made to the DuPage County Family Center telephone number: 630-407-2450 or you can learn more and register online here.

Registration information for the Parents and Kids Program for parents that were never married can be found here.

Where is the DuPage County Family Center located?

As stated above the address is 422 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187, however, it is tucked away within the DuPage County Government complex and so below are pictures to help locate the DuPage County Family Center. There are parking lots to the South and to the North of The Family Center. The Center will often tell you when you make an appointment what lot you should use. Below are pictures to help identify The Family Center and the South Parking Lot and the North Parking Lot which can be a bit more challenging to find.

This is the view west after you turn in to the DuPage County Complex from N. County Farm Road as you head to the DuPage County Family Center. To Drive to the South Side Parking Lot: Drive straight then make a second right. You will see the parking lot ahead.

To Drive to the North Side Parking Lot: You will take the first right into a parking lot by a pond and follow the signs to 422 Children's Advocacy Center & Family Center North.

Drive through the parking lot toward the train tracks just north of the parking lot.

Continue to follow the signs to 422 & Family Center North. You will follow this road to the left.

After following the road to the left, you will be approaching the closest parking lot for the DuPage County Family Center.

There are several parking spaces for parents and after parking you will follow this sidewalk up and around the building to the main entrance for the DuPage County Family Center. Follow the signs and the DuPage County Family Center is to the left once you have entered building 422.
