Illinois Collaborative Divorce is Growing!

Illinois Collaborative Divorce is Growing! On June 9, 2012, Wheaton Illinois Collaborative Divorce Attorney, Erin Birt, represented the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois (“CLII”) at the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (“AFCC”) Convention at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago.  Ms. Birt met many like minded professionals and helped spread the word about the benefits of Illinois Collaborative Divorce. In return, she met great contacts from all over North America that can provide her and CLII with invaluable resources and a greater perspective on cultural diversity and the Collaborative Divorce process.

The Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois may soon have a far west suburban practice group.  Many collaborative professionals are interested in bringing CLII collaborative practices to Kane and Kendall Counties.  More details to come…

The International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (“IACP”) will hold its annual forum in Chicago, IL this year which serves as a networking and educational forum.  Each year membership grows and permits members access to greater resources for their clients.  Wheaton Illinois Collaborative Divorce Attorney, Erin Birt, was honored to be approved as a presenter at the 2012 IACP Forum.  She will present on “Alcoholism/Addiction and the Family in Collaborative Divorce.”

Why is Illinois Collaborative Divorce is Growing? A Reminder of the Benefits of Collaborative Divorce.  The Illinois Collaborative Divorce process is appropriate for couples:

1. who want a civilized, respectful resolution of the issues;

2. who are willing to focus on solutions rather than on blame or revenge;

3. who need to maintain a productive working relationship with their (ex) spouses;

4. who will be co-parenting and want to protect the child/ren from the negative impact associated with litigation;

5. who want to create the terms of their divorce settlement rather than turning control over to a judge;

6. who value privacy.

The Illinois collaborative divorce law process starts when each party is represented by an Illinois collaborative divorce lawyer. The time efficient and time effective negotiation skills of a collaborative divorce lawyer helps the couple navigate complex Illinois divorce issues in less time and for less cost than a typical litigated divorce.

The Illinois collaborative divorce law process may include the use of a proactive team to provide the couple with unbiased professional assistance. The proactive team may include a child specialist, divorce coach, or a financial specialist.
